The Facts
Most parents are responsible and worry about their children’s safety, but they still think that it can’t happen to them. It can.
*Children are naturally drawn to water. It can take less than two minutes for a child to drown. You only need to turn your back for a minute for a tragedy to occur.
You can help to prevent the tragic loss of life and un-authorised use of your pool by erecting a fence or protective barrier around your swimming pool. A pool fence will mean that you need not worry about changing the batteries in your safety alarm or struggling to fit awkward covers.
However, there is NEVER any substitution for parental supervision and common sense.

Current Legislation in Andalucia
As a pool owner, it is your responsibility to provide a safe, healthy environment for people who have access to your pool. Current laws in Spain apply to pools for collective use. This encompasses public pools or communities with over 20 dwellings. (Please see our Andalucia Pool Safety Regulations in the main menu)
However there are ethical and legal obligations surrounding private pools too.

Case Study
It's a fact that pool safety is a key decider when families choose to rent holiday apartments or villas.
Installing a pool safety barrier could also dramatically increase your bookings.
A villa owner in Fuerteventura recently reported an increase of almost 160% on his annual bookings (2009) following the installation of a fence; this additional income ensured the fence easily paid for itself in just one season.
It makes sense to equip your pool with a safety fence; ensure families enjoy their holiday with total peace of mind.
Under Spanish law if the unthinkable did happen, you as the owner of the property would be held liable. A full investigation would take place to establish the circumstances and the percentage of liability you carry as the pool owner.
Without doubt, once the law is enforced for private pools in Spain, prices will increase, so why not invest now in a pool safety barrier, giving you and others total peace of mind? Please note for communities and urbansations, barriers should ideally be non-removable to avoid unauthorised removal. Therefore, we generally recommend our static range for this purpose.
